It was the dead of night, exactly as the note from home had indicated. Kaiyo walked the streets of Konohagakure quietly, taking great care not to awaken anybody. After several moments of walking, a shinobi with a flame headband lands quietly beside Kaiyo.
"Hello," Kaiyo said to the man, "It's been a long time."
"Indeed it has, Kaiyo," he replied, "I hear you're a chuunin now."
Kaiyo smiles at him.
"I sure am. The hokage promoted me following the incident in Otogakure."
The man raised an eyebrow.
"Really? Well, no accounting for taste, I guess."
"Hey! Watch it! I still techinically outrank you, Hitoro!"
Hitoro genuflected mockingly.
"Of course, Kaiyo-sensei!"
"So they sent you to teach me the jutsu?"
Hitoro nodded.
"Despite the fact that your Eye feels weird, yes. I'm here to teach you the jutsu."
Kaiyo put his hands on Hitoro's shoulders.
"I'll try to make this as brief as possible, then."
Kaiyo activated his Eye, and the jutsu transferred slowly from Hitoro to Kaiyo. Once the process was finished, Hitoro stood.
"I will never get used to that," he said, shaking his head.
Kaiyo shrugged.
"Many thanks for the jutsu, my friend."
Hitoro nodded and left, doing his best to avoid detection. Kaiyo remained there for a moment, watching his friend leave, then walked over to a shadowy area of the street. He made a few hand signs no Konoha ninja could recognize, and held his two headbands, one in either hand. Chakra glowed around his hands for several moments. When it died down, the leaf headband in his right hand was in tatters, a pathetic shade of what it was a moment ago. Discarding the husk of his leaf headband, Kaiyo tied the flame headband around his head.
"Good to be wearing this again," he said.
Making a hand sign, he touched the flame insignia on his headband, causing it to glow for a moment. When the glow died down, the flame insignia had been replaced with a leaf insignia. Kaiyo smiled and headed home.
